Almost 200,000 votes for Tournament of Champions seats

Monday, 29 March 2010

The 2010 World Series of Poker Tournament of Champions has 20 seats to be filled and poker enthusiasts around the world have been voting on who should fill them for a chance at a $500,000 prize.

The Tournament of Champions is a 27-seat freeroll tournament with a $1,000,000 prize pool and a $500,000 first place prize. Of the 27 seats, seven are taken up by two online qualifiers; previous Tournament of Champions winners Annie Duke, Mike Sexton and Mike Matusow as well as reigning WSOP and WSOPE champions Joe Cada and Barry Shulman.

Entrants must have a World Series of Poker bracelet, which rules out the likes of Tom “durrrr” Dwan, Patrik Antonius or Gus Hansen. Phil Galfond of BlueFirePoker is a strong rumour for the event, having won the $5,000 PLO event at the 2008 WSOP.

Many players have been on a recruitment drive but apparently Tom Schneider has promised to split his winnings among those who vote for him. We’re voting Schneider!
