Prior to the World Series, Alexandre Gomes might not have been the best known poker player in the world. You’d almost believe he was just another guy who’d won a tournament, but nothing could be further from the truth.

Prior to the World Series, Alexandre Gomes might not have been the best known poker player in the world. You’d almost believe he was just another guy who’d won a tournament, but nothing could be further from the truth. The 25-year old lawyer has been winning online tournaments for a while now, and this summer’s bracelet was merely the next step in his move towards a career in poker.
PokerStars tends not to let talent go unnoticed for very long, and so Gomes’ signing as the newest member of Team PokerStars Pro isn’t a massive surprise. Gomes joins the likes of Joe Hachem, Greg Raymer, Chris Moneymaker, Daniel Negreanu, Barry Greenstein, Gavin Griffin, his fellow Brazilian André Akkari, on the team.
The signing caps off the Brazilian’s crazy summer. “Ever since I started playing poker, I have literally dreamed of being a part of Team PokerStars Pro and winning a WSOP title and bracelet,” said the lively Gomes. “Making these two dreams come true at once is more then a dream. Am I awake? Someone pinch me please!”
