Uruguayan competitor Alex Komaromi has banked €65,740 ($74,618) after winning Event #5 at the ongoing World Series Of Poker Europe (WSOPE) tournament series in Berlin.

After lining up alongside 112 other entrants on Wednesday, Komaromi found himself at the final table of the six-handed mixed eight-game event and soon took the lead when German opponent Jens Lakemeier became the first to hit the rail in sixth.

As the former chip leader watched from the sidelines, Komaromi began to consolidate his position with professional stalwarts Shaun Deeb and Jonathan Duhamel falling away soon after.

With morning dawning, the players decided to pause before resuming their battle on Thursday, which saw Noah Bronstein crash out in third and Komaromi further increase his chip lead.

This sent Komaromi into a heads-up battle with Scott Clements and his momentum soon saw him became the first from his nation to collect a WSOPE bracelet.

WSOPE Event #5 Final Table Result:

1 Alex Komaromi - €65,740

2 Scott Clements - €40,645

3 Noah Bronstein - €29,200

4 Jonathan Duhamel - €21,065

5 Shaun Deeb - €15,235
