Alain Roy Wins Partouche Poker Tour Cannes

Alain Roy Wins Partouche Poker Tour Cannes

Monday, 8 September 2008

While Cannes might be more renowned for its film awards another lucrative title was handed out in the French city last night as Alain Roy won a cool €1 million at the Partouche Poker Tour Main Event. The event saw 480 players ante up the €8,500 buy-in for a total prize pool worth €3.2 million.

The day before had seen the fans favourite Gus Hansen narrowly miss out on a seat at the final table, although his ninth place finish was another creditable result for ‘The Great Dane’. As the remaining eight players sat down to play, Roy was in great position, a close second to overnight chip leader Stephane Bazin. In the end Bazin was unable to keep control of the table, and it was left to Roy and Claudio Rinardi to battle for the first place prize. Rinardi wasn’t able to stop Roy claiming a victory on home soil, leaving the Swissman collecting just over half a million Euros for his runner-up finish.

Final results from Partouche Poker Tour, Cannes.
1st Alain Roy - €1,000,000
