Season seven of the EPT has been a good one for British players with Toby Lewis, David Vamplew and Roberto Romanello all taking titles. The omens look good for more UK success at the latest event in Austria with Londoner Martins Adeniya leading the chip counts at the end of the first of two opening day flights.

The former City trader built up a stack of 182,500 by the close of play, a full 50,000 ahead of nearest rival Wim Bos from Holland. Number for the opening flight of the €3,500 event were substantially down on last year, 180 compared to 270, with 102 making it through to Day 2.

Notables survivors from Day 1A included Alex Kravchenko and Michael Keiner alongside Britons Jack Elwood, Peter Akery, Chris Gordon and Mia Dac Liu. Double WSOP finalist James Akenhead wasn't so fortunate though, busting out early. The same was true of Irish Open winner James Mitchell and EPT big cheese John Duthie who built up a decent stack before bluffing off most of it with 6-2 off.

A much bigger field is expected for the second opening flight which starts at lunchtime today. EPT winners Liv Boeree and Kevin Macphee are set to hit the tables today alongside High Stakes Poker regular Lex Veldhuis and tournament legend ElkY.

Join us tomorrow to see who is that bit closer to reaching the Alpine summit.
