The climax of each FTOPS series is the $535 Main Event which attracts thousands of players and promises huge prizes. This time around the Main Event guaranteed $2.5m but in the end 5,287 players signed up to create a $2.64m prize pool with just shy of half a million going to the winner.

The final table, set after 13 hours, was a tough one and included FTOPS XI $535 NLHE heads-up victor Luie Sojo. The chip counts at the start of play looked like this:

KA1SERfknS0ZE - 8,652,650
Adam "csimmsux" Geyer - 6,785,550
dump22 - 5,503,414
PartyPimp - 5,270,108
CHOOK2120 - 4,755,158
Luie Sojo - 2,624,144
23bigd23 - 2,547,161
clubflush5 - 1,906,834
supermanpunch - 1,607,481

Eventually csimmsux built a chip lead over KA1SERfknS0ZE and PartyPimp to go into three-handed play. He quickly sorted out PartyPimp, who shoved 44 and was called by Geyer’s A8 that spiked a pair to win.

KA1SERfknS0ZE doubled up and took the chip lead but Geyer had won it back before the final hand. Eventually on a 479 board the two got all the money in – Geyer held K9 for top pair and KA1SERfknS0ZE 86s for an open-ended straight draw. The K turn and 9 river sealed the deal.
