Aaron Gustavson defeats Peter Eastgate in EPT London

Aaron Gustavson defeats Peter Eastgate in EPT London
Thursday, 8 October 2009

Aaron Gustavson has won EPT London. The American went into the final table holding a substantial chip advantage and never let up the pace throughout a seven-hour final day. He put his large stack to excellent use, eliminating Raymond Wu, Dominic Cullen and Nikolai Senninger to set up a heads up confrontation with 2008 WSOP Main Event Champion Peter Eastgate.

Gustavson held a 2 to 1 chip lead over Eastgate going into heads up play and never relinquished the advantage. The chips went in with Gustavson holding AQ to Eastgate’s A9. The board provided no help to the Dane who was forced to settle for a second place prize of £530,000.

Gustavson collected £850,000 for the win. It’s the latest in a line of excellent results for the 23-year-old. He had a win and a runner up finish in the Borgata Summer Open in June, took the Poker Stars Sunday Warm Up for a cash of $135,000 in July and had very deep runs in two WCOOP events last month.

1. Aaron Gustavson - £850,000

2. Peter Eastgate - £530,000

3. Nikolai Senninger - £285,000

4. Martin Gudvangen - £227,000

5. Dominic Cullen - £173,000

6. Rui Milhomens - £124,000

7. Raymond Wu - £87,000

8. Karim Bennani - £50,100
