APAT World Championship of Amateur Poker Kicks Off in London

Wednesday, 27 August 2008

The Grosvenor Victoria Casino in London – more affectionately known as ‘The Vic’ – has opened its doors to the so called poker amateurs this week as the Amateur Poker Association Tour rolls into town for their World Championship of Amateur Poker.

At 2.30pm today the players kicked off with the Omaha event, with a field capped at 70. APAT will be on hand to bring live chipcounts, pictures and video interviews from the leading players in this inaugural WCOAP side event, in the lead up to the weekend's World Amateur Poker Championship main event.

Those in the field in today’s event show a couple of players who have had decent results despite their ‘amateur’ status, including recent GUKPT Luton final tablist James Mitchell, and Danny ‘danny73’ Palmer, who has had some impressive online results as well as a cash at the 2007 WSOP Main Event. Also playing is Jonathan Woodfield, who finished 13th in a WSOP Razz event in 2007.

Coverage can be followed on the APAT website.
