The Amateur Poker Association & Tour (APAT) has released entry details for the third live event in its tour for non-professional poker players.
The Welsh Amateur Poker Championship, APAT’s third live event, will be held at the Grosvenor Casino in Cardiff, on February 24 and 25, 2007. 180 players will start the event with £10,000 in chips competing for the Welsh national title, and a first prize of £3,500 plus an $8,900 expenses paid entry to the German leg of the European Poker Tour in March.
Entry to the Welsh Amateur Poker Championship will be open exclusively to members of APAT.
In a change to previous entry systems, members will be able to qualify through online satellites at PokerStars.com and a live satellite taking place at the Grosvenor Cardiff on January 25. The remainder of the seats will go on sale to members on a first-come, first-served basis.
APAT's previous event, the United Kingdom Amateur Poker Championship sold out two hundred and ten seats in a record twenty nine minutes. The live event saw players compete at Aspers Casino in Newcastle, where Max Ward from Manchester beat off all competition to take down the £3,750 first prize and a seat in the World Series of Poker.
