The PokerStars.net Million Dollar Challenge smashed records with its inaugural episode, becoming the most-watched poker programme on television all over the world. However, one upcoming episode seems destined to break that figure.

On December 27, the story of Mike Kosowski will air on the PokerStars show. A former NYPD officer, Kosowski was forced to retire after sustaining long-term injuries looking for survivors in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Kosowski defeated Daniel Negreanu heads-up to claim the $1,000,000 prize after barely making it through to the final hurdle against the Team PokerStars pro. However, he was confident he would win, calling it destiny:
"Two years ago, I showed my wife the World Series of Poker on TV and Daniel was playing in it. I told her that one day I would beat him. Later, I had a second dream that I beat him. It inspired me to play better on PokerStars.net and to make the show," Kosowski said.

"I’ll be donating to the Families of Freedom 9/11 Scholarship fund and City Harvest New York , and I’ll pay off my mortgage, put some into a nest egg for my daughter’s wedding, fix up the house a little, and put the rest of the money away into retirement savings.”
