888.com Feels The Sting as Poker Revenues Fall

Tuesday, 4 August 2009

Online gambling operators 888.com, famed for their online sportsbetting, casino and poker businesses today announced a loss in the poker section of their market. Their poker site is Pacific Poker and total profits fell despite optimism.

Total operating income in the three months to June 30 totalled $61m, compared with $69m in the same period the previous year. This was largely blamed on softening poker revenues according to 888.

"We expect further progress during the second half of the year especially during the fourth quarter," a spokesperson for the firm said.

"Given current trading, the progress of the strategic deals and the launching of new games, we expect to grow the business further during the year."

Overall, 888 holdings' shares increased by 1.6% to 84.55p.
