While the World Series of Poker is drawing to a close the action on the World Poker Tour is just starting up again with Slovenia's Casino Portoroz the venue for the opening event on the season ten calendar.

After a sparsely attended opening flight (just 46 players entered day 1A) numbers were much better yesterday making for a total field of 141 runners. Of those 84 have made it through to day 2 with Johan Patrick Hirvonen leading the way.

Other notable survivors are Middle East Poker Champion Dominik Nitsche (yes, him with the let's be generous and say unusual way of celebrating), Toby Lewis, John Eames and Tony G finally rolled in over three hours after the scheduled start.

The top 14 finishers will all make the money with the min cash set at €7,500. The winner will walk away with a prize package worth €102,700 including a buy-in to the WPT Championship worth €25,000.
