41 survive EPT Monte Carlo €25,000 High Roller

Friday, 30 April 2010

While the main event was playing down to an eight-handed final table, 113 players had paid up €25,000 to compete in the Monte Carlo High Roller event, creating a first prize of €1,000,000.

Daniel Negreanu, Gus Hansen, Tony G, Johannes Strassman, Lex Veldhuis, Barry Greenstein, Humberto Brenes, Dario Minieri, Jason Mercier and defending champion Vanessa Rousso all set out on the path to glory. All hit the rail.

However, despite that damning list there are still some big names in the field. Gus Hansen, Allen Bari, Luke Schwartz, Tony G, Sorel Mizzi and, obviously, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier are all part of the 41-strong field left for Day 2 today.

Tobias Reinkemeier leads the field with 457,300 up from a 50,000 starting stack. Mizzi is in fifth place on 260,400.
