36 left at Aussie Millions – Ellis leads

Thursday, 31 January 2013

Just 36 players are chasing the AUD$1.6m first prize at the Aussie Millions Main Event with Ray Ellis the man to beat. Ellis was the only man to bag up a seven-figure stack (1,044,000) by the end of Day 3 but there are plenty of big names looming.

Most notable is the man who sits in second place, none other than Patrik Antonius. The high stakes legend will return with a stack of 957,000, thanks largely to winning a big pot with aces which held against Wei Low's pair and inside straight draw.

Other familiar faces who survived Day 3 included Brandon Adams (739,000, Aussie prodigy James Obst (660,000), Dan Shak (596,000), Lee Markholt (594,000) and Phil Ivey (399,000).

Among those to make the money but hit the rail yesterday were the likes of Craig McCorkell, Tyron Krost and Daniel Neilson.

The 36 survivors are all guaranteed at least AUD$30,000 with the final nine all taking home at least AUD$120,000.

Play resumes overnight with the blinds at 4,000/8,000 and a 1,000 ante.
