80 players started Day 3 at the Kursalon Palace in Vienna and by the close of play just 24 players were still in contention for the €700,000 first price. Greek doctor Konstantinos "arxigos" Nanos leads the way but all eyes will be on the person who ended the day second in the chip counts, Daniel Negreanu.

Kid Poker started the day as chip leader and is still very much in the hunt for a first EPT title after winning a monster, million chip pot shortly before the close. The four-time WSOP bracelet winner's pocket queens held up against Riekus Wijermars pocket jacks and sent him rocketing up the leader board into second place.

The British contingent is down to just one after Luke Schwartz, Jack Elwood and Charles Combes hit the rail. Somewhat surprisingly that one representative is Surinder Sunar who nursed his miniscule starting stack into 170,000 by the close of play and a Day 4 return.

The leading chip counts are as follows:

Konstantinos NanosGreece 2,007,000
Daniel Negreanu Canada 1,954,000
Umberto Vitagliano Italy 1,558,000
Martin Hruby Czech Republic 1,403,000
Michael Eiler Germany 1,299,000
Andreas Wiese Germany 1,047,000
Toni Judet Romania 958,000
Antonio Buonanno Italy 818,000
Balazs Botond Hungary 760,000
Giacomo Maisto Italy 623,000

The action resumes at lunchtime tomorrow.
