Just 24 players are left at EPT Madrid with João Paulo Simão leading the hunt for the €550,00 first prize. The Brazilian closed the day with a stack of 1,973,000 giving him a chunky lead over closest rival Ilan Boujenah who returns on day 4 with 1,153,000.

There are still a number of notable names further down the field including French hip hop star and recent Euro Finals of Poker winner Bruno Lopes aka “Kool Shen” and EPT Dortmund winner Mike “Timex” McDonald.

British hopes rest with Fraser Macintyre 717,000 and Ben Spraggons 245,000.

The remaining 24 survivors will today play down to a final table of eight.

There is already UK success to report in the side events with Chris Moorman taking down the €1,000+€1,000 Bounty tournament for a €21,000 score. JP Kelly and Matthew Frankland also made the money. Zimnan Ziyard finished also third in the €2,000 side event for €25,400.
