23 Players Remain in EPT Barcelona

23 Players Remain in EPT Barcelona

Tuesday, 8 September 2009

After a shockingly quick Day 2, only 72 players remained to fight towards the final table at the PokerStars European Poker Tour Barcelona leg. Canadian Matt Lapossie held the chip lead, a position he maintained until Georgios Kapalas won a huge pot with the nut straight against top two pair to finish with 1.7m.

Roland de Wolfe was hot on claiming a second EPT title, doubling up in the first hour and continuing a rampage throughout the day. In one confusing hand, he bet the river with King high but refused to show his hand; only flipping up the king and mucking. His opponent then showed Queen high to take the pot, despite De Wolfe’s protestations that his hand should be live.

Besides De Wolfe, there are still four other previous EPT champions in the field – Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, Mike “Timex” McDonald, Jens Kyllonen and Jan Boubli are all looking to make history by being the first dual EPT winners.

You can qualify for future EPT events at PokerStars.
