Tuesday, 21 July 2015

Organisers of the Aussie Millions have confirmed that the 2016 series will run from 13 January to 1 February and will feature an expanded tournament line up of 24 events.

The Crown Casino in Melbourne will once again be doing the hosting duties with the highlight of the fortnight's action set to be the $10,600 Main Event. Poker high roller's are expected to be out in force once again with massive $25,000, $100,000 and $250,000 Challenge events scheduled.

“Now in its eighteenth year, Crown Melbourne’s Aussie Millions Poker Championship continues to be seen as a ‘must-attend’ on the global poker tour among both recreational players and seasoned pros alike. With a schedule featuring 24 official Championship events, 2016 looms as one of the biggest events yet” said Crown Melbourne’s Tournament Director Joel Williams.

There was a home win in this year's Aussie Millions Main Event as Manny Stavropoulos topped a 648 runner field to walk away with a first prize of $1,385,000.

One man likely to return to Melbourne is Phil Ivey. Amazingly, Ivey has won the $250,000 Challenge three times in the past four years and pocketed over $8m in the process.
