PokerStars has been kicking the New Year off in style for some time now and this year looks to be no different. The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure boasts 50 events played until January 14, open to players as young as 18.

The $10,300 Main Event is second only to the World Series of Poker Main Event in terms of player attendance – last year Poorya Nazari won $3,000,000 for besting a field of 1,347 players. PokerStars expect a small Moneymaker Effect this year owing to the fact that Nazari qualified via a $33 triple chance satellite.

In addition to the Main Event, there are several other big and unique tournaments at the PCA. The $25,000 High Roller event last year saw Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier take home a first prize of just under half a million dollars. Furthermore, a series of Battleship tournaments – during which players sit head-to-head but playing on laptops – is planned for this year’s PCA.
