2010 Irish Open venue confirmed

Thursday, 26 November 2009

Sponsor of the Irish Open, Paddy Power has confirmed that the 2010 festival will be held at the Burlington Hotel in Dublin. It’s the second time that the venue has hosted Ireland’s premier tournament - the first was back in 2007 when Marty Smyth was crowned champion on home turf.

Most delighted about this news will be Neil Channing, who's fond memories of the previous Irish Open venue at the Citywest (where he won the crown in 2008) were tainted last month when he fell victim to a room service robbery.

"We are delighted to return to the Burlington Hotel; everyone loved the venue in 2007 and we're expecting a similar reaction in 2010," said Paddy Power, Communications Manager for Paddy Power Poker. "The tournament room will be as well-presented as usual and with play located in the heart of Dublin, visitors to our lovely city can take in all the sights-and-sounds of one of Europe's favourite locations, just minutes from the tables!"

If you want to get in early you can book a room with breakfast at the bargain rate of €65 by quoting "IO 2010 – Irish Open".

Paddy Power has also confirmed that the popular Last Man Standing promotion will be back for 2010. The top finisher who qualified via Paddy Power will win a sponsorship package worth €100,000. Spokesman Paddy Power again, "We can't wait to kick off the search for the next Sole Survivor; there are 100,000 reasons why it makes sense for players to qualify for the Irish Open 2010 on paddypowerpoker.com and nowhere else!"
