WSOP Main Event – The view from Twitter

WSOP Main Event – The view from Twitter
Wednesday, 11 November 2009

Twitter appeared to be the medium of choice for many following the action at the final table of the Main Event Monday night and many pros used it to offer some entertaining and sometimes controversial thoughts on the heads up battle.

Perhaps most relieved at the Joseph Cada victory was Daniel Negreanu. Kid Poker had a big wager riding on the result and was delighted when the youngster sealed the win Tweeting, “Cada!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tytytytytyty for saving my entire bankroll! Wooot. Drinks on me y'all.”

Phil Hellmuth couldn’t resist getting in on the action either. The Brat won his Main Event bracelet with the same pocket nines as Cada and didn’t wait long to remind people, writing, “I am owed royalties by the 2009 WSOP World Champion!! He won with pocket nines! 100 million dollar pot...Congrats to Darvin Moon + Joe Cada”

Not everyone was as gracious as Hellmuth though. Mike ‘The Mouth’ Matusow was thoroughly unimpressed, writing, “I can't go see the two worst players of the final 9 play for pokers biggest prize its too embarrassing” and following it up with “Congrats again and to all out there this is a lesson on how not to play hu poker”.

Barry Greenstein lightened the mood, proving that it wasn’t just the players providing the entertainment at The Rio. With a glint in his eye Barry wrote, “Linda Tran is the current dealer and she is beautiful and Asian. More incentive for me to final table next year”.

Perhaps the last word should go to WSOP Commissioner Jeffrey Pollack who brought proceedings to a close with, “Again, thank u, players + fans, for a great 2009 #WSOP”. Roll on next year.
