Greg ‘FBT’ Mueller wins Event #50 $1,500 Limit Hold’em Shootout
Monday, 29 June 2009

After waiting years to win his first WSOP bracelet Greg Mueller has made it two in a fortnight after winning the $1,500 Limit Hold’em Shootout event. The former ice hockey star opened his bracelet account in the $10,000 Limit Hold’em World Championship and took that spectacular form into event #50.

The Canadian battled his way through a final table that included Matthew Sterling, Millie Shiu and David Williams before defeating fellow 2009 Limit Hold’em bracelet winner Marc Naalden heads up.

The battle of the Limit champions ended after Naalden raised from the button and Mueller called. The flop brought 10d-4d-3s. Mueller checked, Naalden raised and Mueller called. The turn was a Kd. Again Mueller checked and Naalden raised. This time Mueller re-raised and the Dutchman pushed. Mueller called revealing Kd5h, dominating Naalden’s Kh2s. The river was harmless Jh giving the Canadian his second bracelet and a cash of $194,854.

The final table positions and payouts were as follows:

1 Greg Mueller - $194,854
2 Marc Naalden - $120,614
3 Millie Shiu - $77,138
4 David Williams - $51,145
5 Matt Sterling - $35,058
6 Flaminio Malaguti - $24,824
7 Joep van den Blijgaart - $18,136
8 Jose Barbero - $13,655
