Dutchman gets his dates wrong

Dutchman gets his dates wrong

Wednesday, 8 July 2009

You could just about understand sleeping in and missing the start of the $10,000 Main Event of the World Series of Poker, but missing the whole day? That is exactly what happened to Dutchman Leroy Soesman.

He turned up on Day 1D thinking that he was just about to start his 2009 Main Event campaign only to be informed that he’d actually bought in for Day 1A. Some digging from officials revealed that his worst fears were confirmed. Despite being blinded away throughout the opening day he still had a few chips left for the start of Day 2.

The old gambler’s maxim states that “all you need is a chip and a chair”. Soesman will be hoping that that’s true.
