The people at Harrah’s never seem to stop, do they? Little after Jerry Yang climbs to the top of the mountain in Las Vegas, whilst Annette sailed to the youngest ever Main Event win in London, Harrah’s Entertainment announced dates for the 39th Edition. Again to be sponsored by Milwaukee’s Best Light, the Series will run between 30th May and 17th July 2008 at the Rio in Vegas.
The schedule for the events themselves has not been released, but it does allow us poker junkies to start booking our holidays in advance. WSOP Commissioner Jeffrey Pollack said, “the team is still hard at work on the schedule of events for next year, but we've received so many requests for the dates that we decided to announce them now.'
It was also announced that the “WSOP tournament room” at the Rio – which we could assume will be the Amazon Room as it was last year – will open on 26th May for two special events. Geno Iafrate, vice president and assistant general manager of the Rio, said 'this 'soft opening' will give players a chance to register early and avoid the lines we had last year during opening weekend – our busiest time.'
Those of you who are keen to know the specific event schedule should keep an eye on the official homepage of the WSOP, worldseriesofpoker.com.
