It’s most likely that you’ve spent the first two months of this year working your regular job, maybe putting a little money aside, or maybe you’ve just been spending all your hard earned cash playing poker with your buddies and facing the wrath of your girlfriend every night. Either way, it’s highly unlikely that you’ve done what six professional players have already achieved in 2006: bank over $1,000,000 so far this year.
As reported yesterday, Alan Goehring tops the money list with almost $2.4 million; and that’s from winning only one tournament. Michael Mizrachi comes in second with $1.9 million, after finishing second at the Gold Strike World Poker Open and taking top prize at the Borgata Winter Poker Open. The following three places are all taken up by single tournament wins from Steve Paul-Ambrose, Nam Le and Daniel Quach respectively. Scott Nguyen takes sixth after winning the Gold Strike World Poker Open and a big money finish at the LA Poker Classic.
So next time you get an verbal spray from your spouse/parents/boss, just point out how much money there is to be made at the upper eschelons.
