Absolute Poker (AP) has not yet responded to an offer made by 2+2 head Mason Malmuth these past few days for an independent investigation of AP run by Malmuth’s legal team.
The offer, which was extended via a thread on the 2+2 forum, came as a result of discussions between Malmuth and AP where AP asked for Malmuth to back the online gaming company’s efforts in the aftermath of the super account scandal. Malmuth was not going to be drawn into doing so under the current circumstances but would do so if an independent audit showed that Absolute was running a clean ship.
From here Malmuth’s legal team were instructed to draft a formal investigate proposal which was in turn passed to Absolute Poker. According to the poker publishing guru, the offer has not been acknowledged by AP. There also appears to be some confusion over who would stump up for the legal bill, with the lawyers seemingly only able to take payment from 2+2.
On the strength of its previous press releases it seems Absolute will be going ahead with the original audit by Gaming Associates, along with some as yet unspecified involvement from the forum which unearthed the majority of the scandal, PocketFives.com.
