181 players nominated for Poker Hall of Fame

Monday, 23 August 2010

Nominees for the 2010 Poker Hall of Fame admissions are underway at Harrah’s with a confirmed 181 names put forward by the poker public. Last year, Mike Sexton was given poker immortality for having a 75% portion of the vote; this year only 50% is required.

World Series of Poker Communications Director Seth Palansky told Poker News Daily, “It’s going well and we’ll have a good batch of candidates to mull over and see who gets in.” To vote, you need only supply a few basic details; your choice and a short comment supporting your nomination.

Next week the top 10 nominees will be publically named and then a nomination committee will review the picks – last year Tom “durrrr” Dwan was vetoed because his career has not been long enough. Finally, in mid-September the 16 living Hall of Famers and a select board will decide who is worthy of entry.

Last year, hundreds of people came to an induction dinner and heard speeches from the likes of Howard Lederer and TJ Cloutier.
