15 left in WSOPE £5,250 PLO – Racener leads

Saturday, 18 September 2010

49 players returned for day two of event two, the £5,250 PLO tournament, yesterday and by the close of what proved to be an extremely long day, just 15 were still in contention to take the £159k first prize.

When the chips were eventually bagged up with the clock approaching 3am, it was November Niner John Racener who was leading the way with a stack of 276,000. The Hit Squad's Karl Mahrenholz is next on 211,000 with six-max finalist Willie Tann in third on 154,000.

As expected in a £5k buy-in event the pros have dominated this one with Felipe Ramos, multiple bracelet winner Jeff Lisandro, Jeff Kimber and Steve Jelinek all still firmly in the hunt.

John Kabbaj was the unfortunate bubble boy. The 2009 WSOP Pot Limit Hold Em champion just missed the money when his aces couldn't outrun Racener's rivered flush. Other big names to hit the rail before the bubble burst included Vitaliy Lunkin, Ross Boatman, Toby Lewis and Barry Greenstein. Phil Laak looked well placed for another deep run after his maiden bracelet victory on Thursday. The Unabomber eventually busted out in 32nd after his flush ran into Danny Wong's full house.

The action resumes at 3pm and will continue until we have a winner. Given the way yesterday's action panned out it could be a late night.
