The final event of the fourth annual Ladbrokes European Online Championship of Poker (LEOCOP) has seen yet more Danish success after ‘hahila’ walked away the $229,500 first prize.

LEOCOP is billed as ‘Europe’s longest running online poker championship’ and had kicked off on 26th October with 15 days of No-Limit, Pot-Limit and Limit Hold'em as well as Pot-Limit Omaha and Omaha-Eight action. The series culminated in the $120,000 Masters Event freeroll with a prize pool worth $918,000.

The series was a success not only for the Danish player who picked up the title but also for the organisers. “We attracted a good field and the money added generated a record-breaking prize pool of gigantic proportions for the 600-plus runners,” said Edward Ihre, Managing Director for Poker.Ladbrokes.com.

“Poker pros that are experts in spotting the best value tournaments online made sure they took their seats in the last night of the LEOCOP festival. Former World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winners, WSOP final tablists and a final tablist in the WSOP Europe were just some of the few familiar poker circuit names that made an appearance as they tried to secure their slice of the LEOCOP IV main event massive online prize pool.

The early chip leader, ‘Benno26’, eventually had to settle for second spot and $130,815. He has been invited to take part in the Masters Event next Saturday along with the winners of each festival event for the last remaining seat in the semi-final of the televised Poker Million event guaranteeing a minimum $20,000 payout.
