His name might well have been Gladiator, but Russell Crowe is going to have his poker credentials tested at the Crown Melbourne this Friday. Joining him will be celebrities including Fifi Box, Dave Hughes, Glenn Robbins, Livinia Nixon and Nathan Buckley as they support the biggest charity poker event to be held in Australia.
Joe Hachem and Shane Warne have both been incredibly successful in their own sporting arenas, and now the Australian World Series Main Event winner is joining forces with the cricket legend for the benefit of charity.
The event will be staged in the High Limit Area of the Crown Poker Room and is open to the public. The buy in will be $1000, with $500 rebuys and a guaranteed first place prize of $25,000. Each of the other five final table players will win $5000 each. Of course, where Warne is involved, there has to be some spin, and here the final six will be joined by Warne and Hachem who will aim to keep the other players honest. Neither of the Australian guests will be able to win any prize money, but they will certainly be playing hard on the other players, as their competitive streaks demand.
All proceeds from the tournament and a specially organised auction which will also take place go directly to The Shane Warne Foundation, committed to raising funs for the seriously ill and underprivileged children of Australia.
