After two and half years of shooting and editing, Poker Kings, a documentary following the fortunes of five poker players on the road to the 2003 World Series of Poker. Directed by award winning filmmaker Maciek Wszelaki, the film follows English trio, Garry 'Whacker' Bush, Simon 'Aces' Trumper and Carlo Citrone and American former title winners, Phil Hellmuth and Robert Varkonyi as they prepare for the culminating showdown in Las Vegas. The Australian director spent months travelling the planet filming his subjects’ trials and tribulations.
According to the makers the made for TV film is getting ‘behind the poker face’ and features ‘passion, skill, naked ambition, occasional recklessness... and a bit of luck.’ It's due to be shown in Australia this month and will hit European screen later in the year.
