The side events thus far at the WPT Five Diamond Classic at the Bellagio have not only drawn out the stars but also seen some big name winners. Event 8 was won by David ‘The Dragon’ Pham, who won $279,845 for his efforts.

Other notable winners so far include Dutch Boyd, who won Event 3, and Roy Winston, the 2007 Borgata Poker Open champion who also won Event 7 here.
There have been some other huge names amongst those who have cashed in these events in the run up to the $15,000 main event on the 12th December. Michael Mizrachi, Layne Flack, Men ‘The Master’ Nguyen, Joe Sebok, Kathy Liebert, Kenna James and Shannon Shorr are amongst those who have earned thus far.
Event 8 was a $2,500 No Limit Hold’em event which saw 319 players take part. The total prize pool came to $773,575 with Pham beating Marco Johnson into second.
Courtney Harrington finished in third place for $78,550, Cory Carroll was eighth and J.J. Liu ended up in 12th.
The main event of the Five Diamond World Poker Classic, the WPT Doyle Brunson Classic Championship, starts on Wednesday.
