'ElkY' Goes Deep Against SCOOP Studs

Thursday, 8 May 2014

Another handful of SCOOP tournaments got underway on PokerStars yesterday and while many of the day's MTTs were left to play out today, three winners were crowned in the Stud event.

Pitched at three buy-in levels ($27, $215 and $2,100), the Limit Stud event saw a more select group of players take to the felt than many of the Hold'em events but that didn't mean the quality of poker was any less entertaining.

Indeed, while the players fighting for the $7,296 prize in the low event were relative unknowns, those making it deep in the $215 tournament were more recognisable.

Aside from the likes of Rory 'Mafews' Matthews and Nacho Barbero falling just short of the 40 payout places, Bertrand 'ElkY' Grospellier was able to climb to 19th place before relinquishing his stack.

With arguably one of the best tournament now watching from the rail it was the Czech Republic's 'Mieses88' who took control of the action and eventually clinched the $11,934 top prize after beating China's LyRiver888' heads-up.

With 12 (or 36 if you count each tournament and each buy-in level) events either in progress or complete the Player of the Series leaderboard is beginning to take shape and leading the way is 'Colisea'.

Despite not ranking highly on the low, medium or high leaderboards, the Polish grinder has managed to top the overall POS rankings after scoring six times in 13 outings.
