The humanitarian crisis in Darfur has caught the attention of several charitable organisations keen to do their part in supporting victims in the region. The second annual Ante Up for Africa tournament, co-founded by Annie Duke and Don Cheadle, will take place at the Series on 2nd July 2008.
Last year’s inaugural tournament raised more than $700,000 for the cause, and had a stellar-line up. Annie Duke is excited about this year’s event. 'After the success of last year's tournament, we are looking forward to another exciting year while raising awareness for an ongoing crisis. It is exciting to bring the world of poker and entertainment together, and we are once again asking players who win prize money to donate half of their winnings to our charities.'
Players expected to join the stars at the charity event include Doyle Brunson, Daniel Negreanu, Phil Ivey, Chris Ferguson, Andy Bloch, Erik Seidel, Phil Gordon, Barry Greenstein, Phil Laak and Phil Hellmuth.
More information on the event can be found at www.worldseriesofpoker.com.
