Lionel Foulquier has 210,000 reasons to celebrate after picking up a record-breaking bad beat jackpot courtesy of Poker Heaven and the International Poker Network (IPN). The Frenchman, who was playing on a €0.50/€1 No Limit table, saw his quad 8s beaten by quad queens but was celebrating soon afterwards.

Foulquier said, “I was aware that the jackpot was standing at over €600,000, but to be honest I didn’t think I stood any chance of winning it. When my quad 8s were beaten I immediately left the table to see if I had won, and when I realized I had, I spoke to a friend of mine to tell him that I had just won over €200,000, and at that point we were both left speechless. The atmosphere at the table when all the players realized we had won the Bad Beat Jackpot was amazing. As to what to do next, I am planning to buy an apartment with some of the winnings and of course I intend to play a lot more poker!”

The winner of the hand, ‘o1nfl1p’, walked away with €105,254 while the other players at the table were each awarded with €15,036.

Poker Heaven is part of the IPN operated by GTECH G2. The IPN’s bad beat jackpot was last hit in August for $412,000 with that winner not even aware of their windfall until someone else at the table pointed it out.

GTECH G2 is the iGaming division of lottery giant GTECH and revealed that the new bad beat jackpot is already at well over €120,000.
