€5,300 EPT Berlin Main Event starts today

Tuesday, 5 April 2011

The European Poker Tour returns to Germany today for the EPT Berlin Main Event which starts this lunchtime. Organisers will no doubt be hoping that this year's tournament passes off more peacefully than last year's which featured an armed robbery.

The €5,300 contest has a new venue in the form of the the Spielbank Berlin Casino with the hosts promising that “The new environment should be more convenient for poker players, with the 40 tournament tables and 20 cash tables all located in the same area.” Presumably security will be beefed up for what is expected to be the biggest poker tournament in German history.

Kevin Macphee won last year's EPT Berlin, taking home a first prize of €1m.

In addition to the Main Event the Spielbank will also be hosting turbo, heads up, women's, PLO and bounty events. The full schedule can be found at EPT Berlin.
