Saturday, 10 August 2013

As expected, a much bigger field was on hand for the second opening flight at UKIPT Galway Main Event with 629 players taking to the felt on Day 1b. At the close it was Damien Porebski who was nursing the biggest stack having accumulated an impressive 205,200.

The big names were out in force yesterday with Irish Poker Championship winner Trevor Dinneen continuing his good run by building a stack of 166,600. Triple crown winner Jake Cody is very much in the hunt for another major title on 98,700 as are Genting Poker Series winner Yucel 'Mad Turk' Eminoglu 92,500 and PokerStars Online Pro Dale Philip 83,200.

Notables who won't be back though include Viktor 'Isildur1' Blom who ran jacks into kings and Dave 'Devilfish' Ulliott who had a set cracked by an unlikely gutshot draw.

The combined Day 1a and 1b fields meant a total of 861 runners meaning an overlay of €139,000. The eventual winner will walk away €205,600 to the good with the eight finalists guaranteed a pay day of at least €16,500.

The combined chip counts heading into Day 2 are as follows:

1 Alan Gold 272700
