PaddyPowerPoker.com have announced that regardless of how many players enter the competition, they will guarantee a prize pool of €2 million at the Irish Poker Open, taking place in Dublin over the Easter weekend of 2007.
If the number of players to enter the tournament exceeds 607, each additional player’s buy in (€3,300 + €200 registration) is added to the prize pool, and with up to 800 seats available to players, the prize pool could swell by a further €617,600.
At last year’s Irish Poker Open, Dubliner Vincent Melinn won the €350,000 first prize at only his second live tournament. This year the event will be double the size of last year’s and will be broadcast on television.
The Irish Poker Open, which was first held in 1981, is Europe's longest established poker tournament. The organisers pride themselves in its historic legacy, unique atmosphere and legendary reputation for camaraderie and traditional Irish “craic.”
