Beim 15. Event der WSOP nahmen 655 Spieler teil und zahlten je 5.000 Dollar Buy-in. So kam bei dem NL Hold’em Turnier ein gigantischer Preispool in Höhe von 3.078.500 Dollar zustande.
Am Ende war Fabian Quoss aus Nürnberg dem Traum vom Bracelet ganz nah, verlor dann aber im Heads-Up gegen Brian Lemke, der für seinen Sieg 692.658 Dollar kassiert. Fabian nimmt immerhin als Zweiter 472.912 Dollar mit nach Hause. Matthias Neu aus Floersheim wurde 13. und erhielt 35.341 Dollar.Am Final-Table saßen gleich zwei WSOP-Bracelet-Gewinner, nämlich David “The Dragon” Pham mit zwei- und Thomas “Thunder” Keller mit einem Bracelet. Zuvor waren die Pros Jeff Madsen, JC Tran, Gavin Smith, Vanessa Rousso, David Singer, Dave “Devilfish” Ulliot, Dario Minieri, Bill Chen und Bertrand “Elky” Grospellier allesamt vor den Geldrängen ausgeschieden.Als das entscheidende Heads-Up begann, hatte Fabian Quoss aus Nürnberg einen Chiplead von 4 zu 1 gegenüber Brian Lemke. Leider zeigte sich Brian während des Matches als gefährlicher Aggressor mit Glück und konnte sich so einen signifikanten Lead erarbeiten.In der letzten Hand des Abends war Quoss ganz klar der unglückliche Verlierer. Vor dem Flop stellte Quoss mit A Qsein restliches Geld in die Mitte. Brian Lemke callte mit A 8, war also der klare Underdog dieser Handkonfrontation. Auf dem Turn zeigte das Board dann J 10 9 Q. Quoss hatte zwar Top-Pair, Lemke aber leider die Straight. Der River war eine Blank. Ein unglückliches Ende für Quoss aber dennoch eine super Leistung des jungen Nürnbergers.
