Letzten Freitag waren 700 Spieler beim Main Event der Irish Open an den Start gegangen. Gestern wurden nun die acht Teilnehmer des Final Table ermittelt.
Die Teilnehmer konnten sich danke der starken Beteiligung über den stattlichen Preisgeldpool von € 2.243.200 freuen, wovon allein 600.000 Euro auf den Sieger entfielen. Ausgerechnet Lokalmatador Philip Baker gehört nicht mehr zu acht Verbliebenen, die um die Siegprämie kämpfen dürfen, da er sich als Bubble Boy verabschieden musste. Nach einem Raise von Lee Brooke-Pearce schob Baker mit recht kleinem Stack und AdQhauf der Hand seine restlichen Chips in die Mitte. Er hatte Pech, dass sein Gegner gerade in diesem AsAc natürlich hatte und das Board keine ausreichende Hilfe brachte. Leider nur Platz 9 für Baker und ein Pott von 37.400 Euro für ihn.Unter den 64 Spielern, die am Tag 3 ihre Künste zeigen konnten, befanden sich auch bekannte Namen wie Dave Colclough und Roy Brindley, die aber beide vorzeitig ausschieden. Besser machte es Kara Scott, die sich immer im Vorderfeld behaupten konnte und Mervyn Smith aus dem Turnier warf. Am besten machte es gestern aber Andrew Pantling, dem fast alles gelang und der heute mit riesigem Chipvorteil in den Schlusstag geht. Seinen Monsterstack nutzte er, um am Ende von Tag 3 Karl Mahlke und Paul O’Connor vom Tisch zu nehmen. Mahlkes All-In callte er mit As9sund schlug dessen Ac6s gleich mit der Door Card, der 9h. Mit satten 2.286.000 Chips ist Pantling klarer Favorit auf die 600.000 Euro Siegprämie.
