After a sensational debut at the WSOP Main Event, there won’t be a woman amongst the final nine in November. Tiffany Michelle, who works as a presenter on Pokernews video content, went to the tables herself and earned a 17th place finish, narrowly missing the chance to become only the second woman to make the Main Event final table.
The $334,534 cash for 17th place is an impressive performance by the young lady, but there would have been many routing to see her on the ESPN coverage later this year. The marketing focus would have most certainly been on her, which in turn could have provided a boom for poker playing amongst women around the world.
The performance has also lead to a spot of bother for Ms. Michelle though, who has been accused of breaching her contract with Pokernews after she received additional branding sponsorship from UltimateBet. What comes of that potential legal wrangle will remain unknown for some time, but it shouldn’t be allowed to take away from what has arguably been the high-point of this Main Event.
