The Bellagio is home of poker's biggest hitters, and of course 'The Big Game'. With years of history which has seen the best players in the world compete at the casino, it is not surprising that this year's World Poker Tour Five-Diamond World Poker Classic has drawn today's superstars.
The festival kicked off this Monday with satellites brimming with players wanting in on the preliminary events. During just the first two events, over 764 players have bought in, generating prize pools over $1.25m when combined.
Event 1 saw 472 players enter the $1,590 buy in No Limit Hold'em tournament, with the likes of Steve Sung, James Van Alstyne and Dutch Boyd in the line-up. Michael Binger bubbled in 12th place, but his brother Nick entered the final table as chip leader. Layne Flack was hot on the trail but was eventually out in sixth, with the spoils eventually went to James Cornell.
The second event was a $2,100 buy in No Limit Hold'em tournament, this time with 292 runners. Pros who cashed in this event included David Levi, Cory Carroll, Max Pescatori, Alan Smurfit and Bill Elder.
Action at the Bellagio will continue to be fast and furious until the main event itself, to be sure to watch out for the latest news on this one.
