It seems to me that it should read 'Scumbag (allegedly) Murders Parents For Money'. There is one of these stories every week about how someone left their kid in the car to freeze/roast in order to go and play bingo or mortgaged their grandparents false teeth/artificial hip in order to buy-in to a tournament. Yada yada yada yada!!!! Why do they always blame the games and not the people!?!? Someone who would do this is not right in the head....never mind what they did for a living.

"In a rather grisly turn of events, a professional poker player has been charged with the brutal murder of his parents. According to SFGate, authorities say he performed the act in order to pay off mounting gambling debts with an inheritance of $1.5m.

In Bluff’s eyes if you need to kill your parents for money, you can no longer be called a pro poker player. However, according to his Hendon Mob Database results, Scherer has won over $300,000 in live tournaments.

Scherer’s parents were found beaten and stabbed approximately one week after their time of death. In an arrest affidavit, Sgt. Scott Dudek said that the younger Scherer had been in a “desperate financial situation.”

Dudek wrote that Scherer “did not appear to show much emotion” at the deaths. Instead he was more interested in seeing the will. Scherer’s father had told his own father that Ernest appeared to be a compulsive gambler ."
