Dublin showcase returns in November.
As we creep into winter, the days may be getting shorter and the nights darker, but it's not all doom and gloom – because the annual Fitzwilliam Poker Festival is back (and there's always light inside the casino).
The Fitzwilliam, dubbed Dublin's favourite poker room, is primed and ready to hold a five-day poker extravaganza, lasting from 26th to 30th November. It has a range of events, so you should be able to find something to fit you whatever your bankroll.
The €540 Main Event kicks off on Saturday 29th at 6pm, with a starting stack of 30,000. Traditionalists will rejoice, because this is no dodgy hyper-turbo mega-rebuy crapshoot with multiple add-ons – on the contrary, it is a simple freezeout with a great structure. The blinds are 30 minutes long for the first three levels, before rising to 45 minutes from Level 4 onwards, and there should be plenty of opportunity to get some good play in before stacks get too short. A super-satellite to the Main runs for €50 on Wednesday 26th.
Other highlights of the schedule include the €270 End-of-Month Freezeout (Thursday 27th), a long-time favourite that's sure to draw a busy local crowd, and a €165 Deepstack Scalps NL Freezeout (Friday 28th), for those who like a deeper tournament with more wiggle room. There's even some unconventional fun in the shape of a €110 Round-of-Each event (Sunday 30th), which is a chance to show off your skills in different variants of the game.
